Unbound, a startup founded in 2023 by Rajaram Srinivasan and Vignesh Subbiah, has raised $4 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Race Capital to support secure and governed enterprise adoption of generative AI tools. The company’s AI Gateway integrates with popular AI tools like Cursor, Roo, and internal copilots, offering real-time data protection, model routing, and usage analytics to prevent sensitive data leaks and manage AI-related costs. Unbound’s platform uniquely enables real-time redaction of sensitive information and dynamically routes high-risk prompts to internally hosted models, addressing risks posed by ungoverned “shadow AI” use in enterprises. The funding will be used to scale hiring and operations, particularly in India, enhance integrations across the AI ecosystem, and advance model orchestration capabilities for enterprises adopting open-source LLMs. Already deployed in mid-market and enterprise customers, Unbound has prevented hundreds of credential leaks and over 500 incidents involving personal information, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving AI security and governance. The company positions itself as a leader in AI governance infrastructure, differentiating from traditional data loss prevention tools by enabling granular, surgical security controls without hindering user workflows.
