The Allahabad High Court has stayed the execution of a three-month sentence against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, issued by a Sultanpur court for a 2001 protest case. This decision, which Singh described as the 'triumph of truth', came after a non-bailable warrant was issued on August 13 by the MP-MLA court against Singh and others for their failure to appear in court. The Lucknow bench has reserved its order on Singh's bail plea, with the court instructing that he not surrender until a decision is made. The next hearing is set for August 28, during which the court has demanded the police produce Singh and other accused individuals. The Sultanpur court had convicted Singh and five others on January 11, 2023, for obstructing a public road and inciting violence. Their appeal was dismissed on August 6, 2023.
