In a tragic incident in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, at least seven people lost their lives when a truck carrying cashew nuts overturned and fell into a canal. The accident occurred late Tuesday night near Devarapalli village as the driver lost control while attempting to avoid a pothole, leading to the vehicle's plunge into the canal. Seven individuals seated on the truck's load were killed instantly, while one person was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital. The deceased were later transported to Kovvur Government Hospital for postmortem. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences and directed officials to ensure the best medical treatment for the injured, also promising support for the victims' families. Authorities are now looking into measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
