Temple University Fires Football Coach Stan Drayton

Temple University has fired head football coach Stan Drayton after three seasons marked by a disappointing 9-25 overall record, including a 3-7 season this year. Despite a recent overtime victory against Florida Atlantic, Drayton's tenure has been characterized by three consecutive losing seasons and no postseason appearances. Athletic director Arthur Johnson expressed gratitude for Drayton's commitment but emphasized the need for the program to compete for titles and bowl eligibility. Defensive coordinator Everett Withers has been named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Drayton, who previously served as an assistant at Texas and other programs, departs as the team prepares for its final two games against UTSA and North Texas, both vying for bowl eligibility. This marks the eighth coaching change in the Group of Five ranks during the current cycle.
