Atlanta Hawks promote Onsi Saleh to GM following Fields' dismissal
The Atlanta Hawks have fired general manager Landry Fields after missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season, finishing with a 40-42 record and losing in the play-in tournament. Onsi Saleh has been promoted to general manager and will assume responsibility for day-to-day basketball operations. The Hawks also announced a search for a new president of basketball operations, enlisting Sportsology Group to assist with the process. Principal owner Tony Ressler emphasized the organization's commitment to improving its structure and navigating complex offseason decisions. Saleh, who previously held executive roles with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs, will work alongside a yet-to-be-named senior leader to guide the team's strategic direction. Despite recent struggles, the roster features standout players such as All-Star Trae Young and rising talents Zaccharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels.
