Gamuda Secures RM4.3 Billion MRT Contract in Taiwan

Gamuda Bhd, in partnership with MiTAC Information Technology Corp and Dong Pi Co, Ltd, has secured a RM4.3 billion contract for the Xizhi Donghu Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project in Taiwan, awarded by the New Taipei City Government. Gamuda holds a 75% stake in the joint venture, which includes a future obligation for additional works valued at RM10.8 billion, bringing the total project value to approximately RM15.1 billion. The MRT project involves constructing a 5.78-kilometre elevated railway track with six stations in the Neihu District and Xizhi District, expected to enhance connectivity between these areas. The seven-year project is touted as Gamuda's largest win in Taiwan since entering the market two decades ago, highlighting the company's competitive edge in securing high-value international projects. The additional works will cover the Xizhi Donghu Line Maintenance Depot and extensions for the Keelung and Minsheng lines, with separate contracts anticipated to be awarded before the main contract concludes.
