Chicago Sky Beat Minnesota Lynx 87-81 with Double-Double Performances
The Chicago Sky defeated the Minnesota Lynx 87-81 at Wintrust Arena, marking the Sky's first victory this season against a team with a .500 record or better. Ariel Atkins led Chicago with 27 points, while Angel Reese continued her impressive streak with an eighth consecutive double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and Kamilla Cardoso added 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. The Sky's dominance on the glass was a key factor, with Reese and Cardoso combining for 26 rebounds compared to the Lynx's total of 28. Minnesota's Napheesa Collier posted 26 points and eight rebounds but missed a free throw that ended her franchise-record streak of 54 consecutive made free throws. Despite a late rally by the Lynx, Chicago maintained control, buoyed by clutch plays including a technical foul against Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve and critical free throws from the Sky. This win marked just the second time the Sky have won back-to-back games this season, while the Lynx have now lost two of their last three games.
