Paramount Pictures has acquired the U.S. and worldwide distribution rights (excluding Germany, Switzerland, and Austria) to the film "September 5," a historical thriller about the 1972 Munich Olympics terrorist attack. The film, directed by Tim Fehlbaum and starring Peter Sarsgaard and John Magaro, has generated significant buzz following its successful premieres at Venice and Telluride film festivals. Scheduled for a platform release on November 27, it aims to establish itself as a major contender in the upcoming awards season, drawing comparisons to previous Best Picture winners like "Argo" and "Spotlight."
