The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a third chargesheet against former Janata Dal Secular (JDS) MP Prajwal Revanna, accusing him of multiple rapes and sexual assaults against a former party functionary between January 2020 and December 2023. This latest chargesheet, comprising 1,691 pages and including statements from 120 witnesses, highlights incidents of blackmail using recorded videos of the assaults. Revanna is already facing charges in three other sexual assault cases, with the SIT having previously filed chargesheets involving allegations of assault against domestic helpers and a Zila Panchayat member. The charges against him include serious offenses under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. Revanna has been in custody since May 31, following his arrest upon returning to Bengaluru from Germany, and he has been suspended from the JD(S) party. His bail petition is currently pending before the Karnataka High Court.
