Ex-Man United Boss Ten Hag Appointed Bayer Leverkusen Manager

Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United manager, has been appointed as the new head coach of Bayer Leverkusen on a contract until June 2027. He replaces Xabi Alonso, who left Leverkusen to become Real Madrid's manager after leading Leverkusen to a Bundesliga title and German Cup in the 2023-24 season. Ten Hag, known for his successful tenure at Ajax where he won multiple Eredivisie titles and reached the Champions League semi-finals, was dismissed by Manchester United in October 2024 following a poor start to the season despite winning the League Cup and FA Cup during his time there. Leverkusen's sporting director praised Ten Hag's experience and achievements, highlighting his ability to build an ambitious team. Ten Hag expressed enthusiasm about joining Leverkusen, recognizing the club as one of Germany's top teams and expressing a desire to contribute significantly to its future success. He will begin preparing the team for the 2025-26 season starting from July 1.
