The 2024 Booker Prize, one of the world's most prestigious literary awards, will announce its winner tonight at a ceremony in London. The six shortlisted books come from a diverse group of authors, including five women, representing Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the UK, and the US. Among them, Charlotte Wood is the first Australian shortlisted in a decade with her novel 'Stone Yard Devotional', while Yael van der Wouden, with her debut novel 'The Safekeep', is the first Dutch woman to be shortlisted. Percival Everett and Rachel Kushner are considered the favorites to win. The winner will receive £50,000 and a trophy named Iris, while other shortlisted authors will get £2,500. This year's panel of judges is chaired by Edmund de Waal, with the event being live-streamed globally.
