Honda Invests in OMC Power for 1 GWp Renewable Energy in India

Honda Motor Co. Ltd. has made a strategic investment in Indian distributed renewable energy firm OMC Power, acquiring a minority stake estimated between 5-10%. This partnership aims to accelerate the development of a 1 GWp clean energy portfolio by combining Honda's advanced technology with OMC's expertise in grassroots energy transition. A key innovation involves repurposing Honda's detachable electric vehicle batteries for stationary energy storage applications, providing reliable power to remote schools, clinics, telecom towers, and small businesses, with a leasing business for such solutions expected to launch in early 2026. The initiative supports India's Make in India and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat visions and aligns with Honda's global carbon neutrality goal by 2050, promoting sustainable innovation and energy security.
