Teen Cyclist Killed in Crystal Lake Hit-and-Run

A 15-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run crash while biking with another teen on Terra Cotta Road near Deering Oaks Lane in unincorporated Crystal Lake, Illinois, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Both boys were riding southbound when an unknown vehicle, also heading south, struck one of them from behind and fled the scene. The victim, whose bicycle had an activated red taillight, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet identified the boy or released information about the vehicle involved. The McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the Coroner's Office continue to investigate. The community and the victim's family are urging anyone with information to come forward.
