Hideki Matsuyama Wins Record-Setting Sentry Tournament

Hideki Matsuyama claimed his 11th PGA Tour victory at the season-opening Sentry tournament in Hawaii, finishing three strokes ahead of Collin Morikawa with a total score of 35-under 257. Matsuyama set a new 72-hole record during the tournament, shooting an impressive 8-under 65 in the final round, which included one eagle and seven birdies. His third-round performance of 11-under 62 also established a new 54-hole tournament record at Kapalua. Despite Morikawa's strong efforts, including a matching 62 in the third round, he could not catch Matsuyama, who maintained his lead from the start. The tournament conditions were favorable for low scores, with no wind impacting play. Matsuyama's victory earned him a top prize of $3.6 million and solidified his standing in the PGA Tour's history of low-scoring performances.
