Virginia Mother Arrested for Son's Fatal Neglect, Weighing 65 Pounds

A Virginia mother, Manisha Nath, has been arrested on charges of abuse and neglect after her 28-year-old autistic son, Somak Nath, was found dead, weighing only 65 pounds and suffering from severe malnutrition and poor hygiene. Somak, who was non-verbal and unable to care for himself, was discovered unconscious and covered in grime in their Chesterfield County driveway before being pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy revealed extensive neglect, including missing and rotted teeth, sores on his back, and evidence of prolonged lack of bathing. Investigators found the home in deplorable condition with little food, black mold, and no running water, indicating severe neglect.
