Dolly Parton to Receive Oscar for Humanitarian Work
Dolly Parton will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2025 Governors Awards for her decades-long philanthropic work, including her efforts through the Dollywood Foundation and the global Imagination Library literacy initiative. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences bestows this honor on individuals whose humanitarian activities have benefited both the film industry and society at large. Parton joins a distinguished group of past recipients, including music legends Frank Sinatra and Quincy Jones. Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, and Wynn Thomas will also receive Honorary Oscars for their contributions to filmmaking. The ceremony is scheduled for November 16 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. This recognition brings Parton closer to EGOT status, as she has previously won multiple Grammys and an Emmy.
