Michigan Players to Compete at FIBA U-19 World Cup

Michigan basketball players Morez Johnson Jr. and Oscar Goodman have been selected for the 2025 FIBA U-19 World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland, running from June 28 to July 6. Johnson, a sophomore transfer from Illinois, earned a spot on Team USA's 12-man roster after a competitive training camp and has previous gold medal experience at the 2024 FIBA U-18 AmeriCup. Goodman, a redshirt freshman, will compete for New Zealand, bringing prior achievements including MVP honors at the 2023 FIBA U-16 Asian Championship. Team USA, coached by Tommy Lloyd, is in Group D with Australia, France, and Cameroon, while New Zealand will face Argentina, Mali, and Serbia. The tournament features 16 teams, with group play followed by a knockout bracket culminating in the finals on July 6. Both Johnson and Goodman are expected to play significant roles for Michigan in the upcoming NCAA season after their international experience.
