OGRA Approves Gas Price Increases for 2024-25

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in Pakistan has approved significant increases in gas prices for the upcoming fiscal year, with a hike of 25.78% for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and 8.71% for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). The average price for SSGC will rise to Rs1,762.51 per MMBTU while SNGPL's price will reach Rs1,778.35 per MMBTU. These changes, which reflect the OGRA's revenue assessments and align with conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), are pending final approval from the federal government. Meanwhile, NorthWestern Energy in South Dakota has settled for a reduced natural gas rate increase of 7% starting from $6.44 per month, following rising operational costs. In Poland, the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has announced a 24.7% increase in gas distribution tariffs effective January 2025, impacting monthly bills significantly. These developments highlight the ongoing global trend of rising utility costs amid economic pressures.
