Church Fires Damage Buildings Montgomery, Perry Township No Injuries
Two separate church fires have caused significant damage to houses of worship in Montgomery, Alabama, and Perry Township, Ohio. In Montgomery, firefighters responded early Tuesday morning to a blaze at Clay Street Missionary Baptist Church, finding heavy smoke and substantial fire in the center of the building; the floor was heavily damaged, forcing crews to withdraw and fight the fire from outside. No injuries were reported, as the church was unoccupied at the time, and the cause remains under investigation. Similarly, in Perry Township, a fire at Compass North Church caused heavy damage to the auditorium and other parts of the building, also with no injuries reported. Firefighters from multiple departments battled the blaze, which was exacerbated by high temperatures, and the cause of this fire is under investigation as well. Both incidents have disrupted worship services and prompted ongoing investigations into their origins.
