Rice Owls Defeat Tulsa to Open AAC Play

Rice University Owls defeated the Charlotte 49ers 68-55 in their latest American Athletic Conference game, with Kellen Amos contributing significantly with 12 points and five rebounds. Trae Broadnax also made an impact, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Despite a strong performance from Charlotte's Nik Graves, who scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds, it was not enough to secure the win. Earlier, Rice ended a long losing streak against Tulsa with a 70-64 victory, aided by Denver Anglin's 12 points off the bench and strong second-half defense that limited Tulsa to just 28.1% shooting. The Owls have now improved their record to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the 49ers dropped to 7-8 and 0-2 in conference play. Both teams are set to play again on Wednesday, with Rice visiting North Texas and Charlotte hosting Florida Atlantic.
