The Queensland Government has unveiled preliminary designs for the New Albion Station Project, aimed at upgrading the train station in Brisbane's inner north to meet future interchange demands and support the Albion Exchange development. The new station will feature four raised, wider platforms, improved accessibility, and enhanced facilities, creating a key rail transfer point for passengers heading to and from Northern suburbs. The project will also include significant urban renewal with up to 1200 new residences and various commercial, retail, lifestyle, and entertainment spaces. Minister for Transport Bart Mellish emphasized the importance of this upgrade for better connectivity within South East Queensland's train network, especially following the upcoming Cross River Rail project. Community information sessions will be held from September 4-16 to engage the public and gather feedback on the developments. Overall, the Albion Station Project is positioned as a vital step towards a more integrated and efficient public transport system in the region.
