Eli Lilly Cuts Zepbound Prices Amid Rising Demand

Eli Lilly & Co. is introducing more affordable versions of its Zepbound weight-loss drug by offering higher dose single-dose vials at reduced prices to combat competition from cheaper, compounded alternatives. The new prices for 7.5 mg and 10 mg vials are set at $499 per month for the first fill and refills within 45 days, down from $699, while the 2.5 mg and 5 mg vials are now $349 and $499, respectively. These vials are available through LillyDirect, the company's direct-to-consumer platform, and target patients without insurance coverage, such as those on Medicare. This strategy is part of Lilly's effort to expand the U.S. supply of Zepbound, ensuring safe access to the treatment, which is also approved for use in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The company continues to emphasize the need for broader insurance coverage for obesity treatments, which remains a significant barrier to access. The move aims to increase availability and affordability of Zepbound as demand surges.
