Dublin Endures 10 Days Without Sunshine

Dublin has experienced a dismal nine days without any recorded sunshine, according to data from Met Éireann, with grey skies dominating the capital due to an easterly air flow pushing cloud from the Irish Sea. Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather noted that this weather pattern is unusual but not unprecedented, marking only the third occurrence of such a lengthy absence of sunshine since record-keeping began. While eastern parts of Ireland remain overcast, the west has enjoyed some bright spells, particularly in Belmullet, which saw significant sunshine. Psychologist Leslie Shoemaker emphasized the impact of this weather on mood and suggested that adopting a positive attitude, similar to those in Nordic countries, could help. Despite the gloomy conditions, forecasts indicate a potential return of sunshine this weekend, although there is a risk of stormy weather on Sunday. Overall, the current weather situation has also led to increased rainfall, exceeding the seasonal average by 32 percent in Dublin.
