Fatal Collision on A61 Near Ripon Claims Elderly Driver's Life

A fatal head-on collision occurred on April 5 near Ripon, North Yorkshire, involving a black BMW 318 driven by a local man in his mid-80s and a black Peugeot 3008 SUV driven by a man in his late 20s from Warwickshire. The incident took place around 5:10 PM on the A61 at Daffodil Bends, resulting in both drivers being hospitalized; however, the BMW driver passed away shortly after midnight. The scene remained closed for about 14 hours as emergency services attended to the incident. North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
