Oscar Shortlist Includes Notable International Films

Selton Mello celebrated the preselection of his film ‘I’m Still Here’ directed by Walter Salles for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars. Despite suffering multiple injuries, including a broken shoulder and wrist before filming, Mello expressed pride in the film's nomination and the emotional connection it brings to audiences. The Academy has narrowed down 85 eligible films to a shortlist of 15, which includes ‘I’m Still Here’, France's ‘Emilia Pérez’, and Germany's ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’. This year, Latvia and Thailand marked historical moments with their first-ever entries on the shortlist. The streamlined selection process has made the shortlist more predictable, with many high-profile films advancing. The final nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025.
