Chris Brown, Rapper Omololu Akinlolu Charged With GBH Over London Nightclub Assault

Chris Brown and fellow musician Omololu Akinlolu, known professionally as HoodyBaby, have both been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent in connection to a February 2023 assault at the Tape nightclub in London's Mayfair district. The victim, music producer Abe Diaw, was reportedly struck multiple times with a bottle and then chased, punched, and kicked by Brown, with the attack captured on surveillance footage. Brown, who was denied bail, is currently in custody and scheduled to appear at Southwark Crown Court in June, casting uncertainty over his upcoming UK tour dates. Akinlolu, a Dallas-based rapper who has collaborated with Brown and Lil Wayne, is set to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on similar charges. Brown was arrested at a Manchester hotel following his arrival by private jet, and the case has drawn significant attention given Brown's previous legal issues and status as a Grammy-winning artist. Police have not detailed Akinlolu's specific role in the assault but confirmed his charge relates to the same incident as Brown's.
