Bhutan King and PM Visit Statue of Unity

Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay visited Gujarat, where they explored collaboration opportunities at the Adani Group's renewable energy site and toured the Statue of Unity and Sardar Sarovar Dam. During their visit to the renewable energy site, discussions centered on potential cooperation in hydropower, green hydrogen, and urban development, with the Adani Group recently signing an MoU for a 570 MW hydropower project. The royal delegation received a warm welcome in Vadodara, showcasing traditional Gujarati culture. Their itinerary included a visit to the Statue of Unity, where they learned about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's role in India's unification and independence. The Bhutanese leaders expressed appreciation for India's initiatives, indicating a strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two nations. This visit is significant as it marks the first time a Bhutanese king and prime minister have visited the Statue of Unity together.
