Trump's 'America First' doctrine prioritized deal-making over diplomacy, often dismissing traditional alliances and agreements like NATO, the Iran nuclear deal, and the Paris Climate Agreement, resulting in the U.S. standing increasingly isolated on the global stage. This approach has been described as a counterrevolution against the status quo, disrupting established international norms from Beijing to Gaza and Kyiv. The shift reflects a move away from the previous emphasis on spreading democracy and maintaining global hegemony through military means, towards a more unilateral and transactional foreign policy stance.
