Singapore Australia Launch Upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Singapore and Australia have elevated their bilateral relationship by launching an upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP 2.0), marking the most ambitious phase since the original partnership was signed in 2015. This enhanced partnership includes deeper defence cooperation with increased reciprocal access to military facilities, support for Australian Defence Force presence in Singapore, and expanded access for the Singapore Armed Forces to training areas in Australia such as Shoalwater Bay. Both countries will also collaborate closely in cyber, digital, artificial intelligence sectors, green energy initiatives, and economic connectivity, reflecting their shared commitment to regional security and prosperity in Asia. The partnership includes a new Third Country Training Programme aimed at building capacity among ASEAN countries, including Timor-Leste. Leaders Lawrence Wong and Anthony Albanese emphasized the strategic importance of their cooperation for regional stability, with discussions also touching on pandemic preparedness and public service partnerships. This collaboration marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Singapore and Australia, underscoring a long-standing and evolving relationship.
