J Balvin Releases Surprise Album Mixteip Featuring Stormzy, Gilberto Santa Rosa

Reggaeton superstar J Balvin has released a surprise 10-track album titled Mixteip, blending old-school '90s and early 2000s reggaeton with his signature genre-crossing style. The album features collaborations with British rapper Stormzy on the Brazilian funk-influenced track “Uuu,” as well as Latin artists like Lenny Tavárez, Justin Quiles, Omega, and salsa legend Gilberto Santa Rosa, who appears on the genre-shifting track “Misterio.” Mixteip includes previously released singles “Río,” a personal song named after Balvin’s son, and “KLK,” highlighting a mix of reggaeton, salsa, trap-R&B, and electro-merengue influences. The lead single “Zun Zun” pays homage to the golden era of reggaeton with a nostalgic music video that premiered on MTV and Times Square billboards. This album follows Balvin’s successful 2024 release Rayo and comes on the heels of his energetic halftime performance at the 2025 FIFA World Cup Final. Balvin is set to continue his global presence with upcoming performances at major festivals in Mexico and Japan.
