Gardaí Join FBI-Led Global Takedown of Blacksuit Ransomware Infrastructure

An international law enforcement coalition, including the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), FBI, Europol, and multiple European police agencies, successfully conducted a major disruption operation against the Blacksuit Ransomware Group. This operation resulted in the seizure and takedown of key operational infrastructure such as the group's dark web leaks page, victim negotiation site, and associated domains. The Blacksuit group, responsible for extensive ransomware attacks and cybercriminal activities worldwide, emerged in May 2023 after rebranding from the Royal Ransomware Group, which originated from the notorious Conti Ransomware Group. The group is believed to have extorted over $370 million from victims through ransomware demands. Law enforcement officials emphasized their ongoing commitment to collaborating internationally and with private partners to disrupt organized cybercrime and protect the public. Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis highlighted that such coordinated efforts are crucial for keeping people safe both online and offline.
