Netflix Streams 95 Billion Hours with Global Hits Adolescence, Squid Game in H1 2025
Netflix reported that its subscribers streamed over 95 billion hours of content in the first half of 2025, marking a slight increase from the previous year. The UK crime drama "Adolescence" was the most-watched series with 145 million views, followed by the South Korean blockbuster "Squid Game," which accumulated 231 million views across all three seasons, with its final season reaching 72 million views in just four days. Nearly half of all original Netflix content streamed through June debuted in 2023 or earlier, with popular series such as "Orange is the New Black," "Ozark," and "Money Heist" each generating over 100 million hours. Netflix also highlighted the strong global appeal of non-English titles, which accounted for over one-third of all viewing, including several South Korean, Scandinavian, and Colombian series. In movies, "Back in Action" led with 165 million hours watched, while original films like "Red Notice" and "We Can Be Heroes" also performed well. Additionally, Netflix is on track to double its advertising revenue in 2025, leveraging its in-house ad tech platform to enhance ad targeting and measurement as part of its ongoing growth strategy.
