Band Van Crash in McHenry Injures 14, Causes Outages

A van transporting members of the Mexican band La Picosa crashed into an electric pole at Prime Parkway and Route 31 in McHenry, Illinois, around 7:20 p.m. Saturday night, injuring 14 people. The band was traveling from Aurora, Illinois, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a performance when the driver reportedly fell asleep, causing the crash. Nine people were hospitalized, including one airlifted to a Level 1 trauma center, while five others were treated at the scene and declined hospital transport. The collision brought down power lines, causing outages for thousands of customers and complicating emergency response. Multiple local hospitals received the injured, and several fire departments assisted at the scene. The McHenry Police Department is continuing its investigation.
