Several high school teams recently captured district championships in baseball and softball, showcasing strong performances and resilience. Halifax County High School won their district baseball championship in a closely contested game against Magna Vista, highlighted by home runs from Garrison Colwell and solid pitching from C.J. Farley and Logan Clark. Amherst softball continued its tradition of success, securing their third district title in five years with a 6-3 victory over Twinsburg, thanks to a complete game and 11 strikeouts from Karina Shuster and timely hitting from Leah Sprague. Columbia softball avenged an earlier loss to Independence by winning the Division VI, Northeast 4 District championship in extra innings, propelled by an inside-the-park home run from Sadie Schulke and a clutch closing performance by Alina Jones.
