Apple Launches Share Item Location Feature for Airlines

Apple has introduced a new feature called 'Share Item Location' that allows users to share the location of their AirTag with airlines, facilitating the recovery of lost luggage. This feature integrates with the Find My network and will be adopted by over 15 airlines, including United and Delta, in the coming months. Users can generate a link in the Find My app to share their luggage's live location, which can help airlines assist in locating mishandled bags. The link is secure, requiring authentication and will expire after seven days or when the user retrieves their bag. Industry statistics indicate that approximately 6.9 bags per 1,000 passengers were mishandled in 2023, signifying a need for such innovations.
