Louisville plans to retire basketball legend Junior Bridgeman's No. 10 jersey in December
The University of Louisville will retire the No. 10 jersey of Junior Bridgeman during a ceremony on December 13, 2025, at the men's basketball game against Memphis. Bridgeman, who passed away in March 2025, was a top 30 career scorer for the Cardinals, earning All-American honors in 1975 and leading Louisville to the Final Four. The retirement will mark the sixth jersey retired in Louisville men's basketball history, joining other legends like Russ Smith and Wes Unseld. Athletic Director Josh Heird praised Bridgeman for his on-court achievements and off-court humility and philanthropy, describing him as a standard of human excellence. Bridgeman also had a successful NBA career before becoming a prominent businessman and philanthropist, known for his quiet generosity that uplifted many lives. His family expressed deep gratitude for the honor, viewing it as a celebration not just of Junior but of all who supported him and the community he served.
