Central Asian, European Energy Groups Launch Green Corridor Exporting Renewables

Azerbaijan and China have strengthened their bilateral relations by implementing a mutual visa exemption agreement, fostering increased investment, tourism, and cultural exchange. Serbia has made significant progress in infrastructure with the opening of a challenging 19.5-kilometer stretch of the E-763 highway, built by Chinese contractors, enhancing connectivity between Belgrade and Montenegro's Adriatic coast and symbolizing growing China-Serbia cooperation. Central Asia is advancing renewable energy exports to Europe through the Green Corridor Union LLC, based in Baku, which unites Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan to transmit surplus clean electricity via a trans-Caspian route ending in Romania. Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role as the final connector in this corridor, leveraging its strategic access to the Black Sea and expanding renewable capacity. This initiative, supported by memorandums and intergovernmental agreements, aligns with broader regional efforts to integrate energy markets and promote sustainability. Additionally, the Economic Cooperation Organization convened in Khankendi to prioritize reducing trade barriers, enhancing cross-border infrastructure, and boosting intra-regional trade, further underscoring the region's commitment to deeper economic integration.
