Apple TV+ Orders Cape Fear Thriller Series

Apple TV+ has ordered a 10-episode thriller series titled 'Cape Fear,' featuring Javier Bardem as notorious killer Max Cady. The series, based on John D. MacDonald's novel 'The Executioners' and inspired by the classic films, will explore America's fascination with true crime and modernize the story by portraying both leads as attorneys. Renowned filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are among the executive producers, with Nick Antosca serving as creator and showrunner. This adaptation is positioned as a tense Hitchcockian thriller, deviating from previous film versions by including a twist on the characters' professions. Bardem's involvement adds to his collaborations with Apple, as he is also set to star in the upcoming film 'F1'. The project marks a notable partnership between Apple TV+ and Amblin Television, following their success with 'Masters of the Air.'
