Students Report from Costa Rica’s Rainforest

Students from the Reynolds School participated in an immersive science reporting course at La Selva Research Station in Costa Rica, where they collaborated with scientists and developed journalism projects on topics such as leaf-cutter ants and the effects of agriculture on the rainforest. The experience aimed to enhance their science communication and Spanish skills, while exposing them to the challenges of field reporting in a tropical environment. Their work included video documentaries, photo essays, and written pieces, reflecting their engagement with both scientific research and cross-cultural experiences. The trip also highlighted the importance of Costa Rica's diverse natural landscapes, which are celebrated for their ecological significance and beauty, especially in the context of Earth Day.
