Oregon DEQ Cyberattack Halts Emissions Inspections

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has paused car-emissions inspections after suffering a cyberattack, leading to the shutdown of vehicle inspection stations and online systems through the end of the week. The agency has not yet identified the attackers or the full extent of the compromised information. In response, DEQ is isolating its networks to contain and potentially eradicate the attack, with Enterprise Information Services conducting an investigation. Although DEQ's environmental-data management system, Your DEQ Online, remains operational as it runs on a separate server, the agency has promised updates as more details emerge. The DEQ has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.
