Vote Centers Open for San Diego District 1 Special Election
As the special election for San Diego County's First Supervisorial District approaches, seven vote centers have opened for early voting, operating daily until April 7. On April 8, six additional centers will open, bringing the total to 13 for Election Day. Over 370,000 ballots were dispatched to registered voters to fill the seat vacated by former Supervisor Nora Vargas, who resigned in January due to personal safety concerns. The candidates include John McCann, mayor of Chula Vista, and Paloma Aguirre, mayor of Imperial Beach; if no candidate secures a majority, the top two will advance to a special general election on July 1. District 1 encompasses several communities, including Chula Vista and National City, and is limited to residents for voting eligibility. Voters can also utilize drop boxes or visit the Registrar of Voters' office for in-person voting options.
