Police Search for Suspect in Stolen Van Incident

Rochester police are actively searching for a suspect who stole a shuttle van early Friday morning from a transportation business on Civic Center Drive NW. The van, left running while customers prepared to depart, was reported stolen around 2:45 a.m. and was located traveling north on Highway 52 shortly thereafter. After law enforcement attempted to pull the van over near Zumbrota, the driver accelerated, leading to the deployment of spike strips that successfully halted the vehicle near the Goodhue and Dakota County border. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby field and remains at large, though authorities have indicated there is no immediate threat to the public.
