Blue Bloods' Danny Reagan Returns in Boston Blue CBS Spinoff

CBS has released the first trailer for Boston Blue, a spinoff of the popular series Blue Bloods, featuring Donnie Wahlberg reprising his role as Detective Danny Reagan. The show follows Danny as he leaves the NYPD and joins the Boston Police Department, where he is paired with Detective Lena Silver, portrayed by Sonequa Martin-Green. Their partnership starts off with tension, exemplified when Lena stops Danny at gunpoint during a suspect chase, leading to a clash over terminology like "shield" versus "badge." Despite their rocky beginning, the duo develops a working relationship and personal connection, highlighted by Danny joining Lena's family for a traditional Shabbat dinner, reminiscent of the Reagan family's Sunday dinners. The spinoff introduces a new Boston-based family, including Lena's grandfather Reverend Peters (Ernie Hudson), her mother the district attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), and stepsister Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson). Boston Blue is set to premiere on October 17 and aims to expand the Blue Bloods universe by exploring new dynamics within the Boston Police Department and Danny's efforts to reconnect with his son, who has joined the Boston PD as well.
