Aloha Man Arrested for June Attempted Murder Portland Shooting

Marquez Goldsby II, a 21-year-old man from Aloha, Oregon, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses including second-degree attempted murder and first-degree attempted assault with a firearm in connection to a June 29 shooting in Portland's Old Town neighborhood. Although no injuries were reported, a victim stated they were shot at during the incident. The Portland Police Bureau's Enhanced Community Safety Team, with assistance from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, located Goldsby at his residence in Aloha, where they executed a search warrant and seized a handgun not believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. Goldsby was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges including unlawful use and possession of a firearm. The investigation underscores Portland's ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence through initiatives such as the Portland Ceasefire strategy, which involves collaboration between police, community groups, and city leaders. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson highlighted a 51% decrease in homicides during the first half of 2025, attributing the decline to such community and law enforcement partnerships.
