Connor Swindells has opened up about the intense weight loss he underwent for his role as David Stirling in the second series of SAS Rogue Heroes, which premieres on January 1, 2025. The actor, known for his role in Sex Education, revealed that filming involved significant physical challenges, as his character descends into madness during imprisonment. He stated, 'I felt like I had to do that in order to get to this place,' emphasizing the necessity of living authentically to portray the character's desperation. The series, directed by Stephen Woolfenden, was filmed over 81 days across various locations, including Croatia and Italy, with Swindells experiencing a stark contrast in filming conditions compared to his co-stars. He humorously noted having to interact with rats while filming in a cave setting, highlighting the difficulties faced during production. Jack O'Connell, who plays Paddy Mayne, described the experience as 'the best job in the world,' underscoring the ambitious nature of the story.
