China, Cambodia commit to global initiatives, multilateral trade

During Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing China's Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and promote global stability. The two sides agreed to accelerate joint projects, including industrial corridors, railway infrastructure, and clean energy collaboration, while supporting an upgraded China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and Hong Kong's participation in regional economic partnerships. They voiced strong opposition to trade protectionism, pledged support for a multilateral trading system centered on the WTO, and committed to regional peace by opposing exclusive blocs and military escalation in the Asia-Pacific. Cambodia reiterated its adherence to the 'One China' policy, opposing interference in China's domestic affairs regarding Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang (Tibet), and Hong Kong, while China backed Cambodia's sovereignty and independent development path. Additionally, China praised Cambodia's recent deportation of Taiwanese citizens involved in telecom fraud, highlighting ongoing law enforcement cooperation between the two countries. Both nations emphasized mutual respect for sovereignty and non-interference, aiming to contribute to stability and development in the region.
