Colorado Daycare Worker Faces 51 Abuse Charges

Brandon Vigil, a former daycare worker in Centennial, Colorado, was arrested on February 10 and faces 51 charges, including 28 counts of child abuse and 23 counts of harassment. The charges stem from incidents between February and September 2024, where Vigil allegedly engaged in harmful and degrading behavior towards children under his care, including slapping a 2-year-old and using a racial slur. The investigation began after a teacher's aide reported an incident on September 5, where Vigil threw sleeping pads and appeared upset. Law enforcement reviewed footage confirming repeated abusive actions. Vigil was fired on September 6 following the incident, and the case is under investigation by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office in collaboration with child protection services. Vigil is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.
