2025 Qumra Masters Include Walter Salles, Johnnie To, Lav Diaz

The Doha Film Institute (DFI) has announced the five Qumra Masters for its 11th annual industry event, scheduled for April 4-9, 2025. The distinguished filmmakers include Walter Salles, Johnnie To, Lav Diaz, Darius Khondji, and Anna Terrazas, who will provide mentorship and masterclasses to emerging filmmakers during the event. DFI CEO Fatma Hassan Alremaihi expressed honor in welcoming these celebrated creatives, emphasizing their impact on world cinema and the importance of their contributions to the next generation of storytellers. Qumra aims to support first and second-time filmmakers through networking opportunities and development resources, reinforcing DFI's commitment to empowering diverse voices in film. The event will feature approximately 40 projects supported by DFI, fostering collaboration within the Arab and international film community. Artistic advisor Elia Suleiman highlighted the transformative potential of Qumra, where emerging talent can flourish through the wisdom of established filmmakers.
