Franklin Fire Forces Evacuations in Malibu

A fast-moving brushfire, known as the Franklin Fire, has forced thousands of Malibu residents, including celebrities like Dick Van Dyke and Cher, to evacuate their homes. Van Dyke, who is set to turn 99, reported that he and his wife managed to escape with their pets but lost their cat, Bobo, during the chaos. The fire has rapidly spread over 2,800 acres and is fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, prompting concerns for over 8,100 structures including high-value homes. Firefighters have been battling the blaze, which has already destroyed at least one home, while officials continue to issue evacuation orders for around 6,000 people. More than 700 firefighters are currently engaged in efforts to contain the fire, which remains largely uncontained as of Tuesday. The intense conditions have also resulted in power outages affecting 57,000 residents across the region.
