Amazon Delivery Driver Killed in Kent Level Crossing Crash
An Amazon delivery driver tragically died after their van was struck by a train at a user-controlled level crossing on Lower Road in Teynham, Kent. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on July 13 when a London-bound train traveling at approximately 90 mph collided with the van, which subsequently caught fire. Emergency services, including paramedics, fire crews, British Transport Police, and an air ambulance, responded swiftly, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Southeastern Railway confirmed no other injuries and suspended rail services between Gillingham and Faversham, with replacement buses provided during the disruption. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is actively investigating the cause of the collision. Amazon expressed condolences to the driver's family and pledged cooperation with authorities as the investigation continues.
